Commentary:
数字 (Hiragana: すうじ Romaji: Su-u-ji) means numbers or numerals.
In the Japanese school curriculum, we use two character sets to count numbers:
漢数字 (Hiragana: かんすうじ Romaji: Ka-nn-su-u-ji) like 一 二 三 四.
アラビア数字 (Hiragana: あらびあすうじ Romaji: A-ra-bi-a-su-u-ji) like 1 2 3 4.
漢数字 is used in traditional writing. アラビア数字 is used in math and science writing.
Most numbers have 音読み (Hiragana: おんよみ Romaji: O-nn-yo-mi) and 訓読み (Hiragana: くんよみ Romaji: Ku-nn-yo-mi).
音読み comes from the Chinese sound, and 訓読み comes from the Japanese native sound. For example, 1 reads いち (Romaji: I-chi) in 音読み and ひとつ (Romaji: Hi-to-tsu) in 訓読み.
