教科書[きょうかしょ] Textbook：
オタク[おたく o-ta-ku] means a person who is obsessed with a hobby in Japanese.
Since オタク is a new Japanese word that emerged in the 1980s, it is written in Katakana.
In conversation, オタク is shortened to オタ[おた o-ta]. The Japanese people say ドルオタ[どるおた do-ru-o-ta] instead of アイドルオタク[あいどるおたく a-i-do-ru-o-ta-ku].
マニア[まにあ ma-ni-a] has the same meaning, but it comes from the English word Maniac.
